The critical functions of religious tourism are outlined. Furthermore, we defined the role of sacred objects in religious tourism. We analyzed the peculiarities of the existence of wooden churches, which play an essential role in developing religious tourism in Transcarpathia. The work aims to explore the concept and content of sacred objects, consider the most important sacred objects of Transcarpathia, and determine their role in the development of religious tourism in the Transcarpathian region. In the scientific literature, there are debatable issues related to determining the independence of sacred objects and sacred tourist resources in the classification structure of recreational and tourist resource potential. For example, in the classification of recreational and tourist resources, monuments of sacred (cult) architecture are architectural and historical and belong to the resource hyperblock "Socio-historical recreational and tourist resources".Religious tourism is an essential part of the modern tourism industry. Cathedrals, mosques, religious museums and spiritual centers are tourist attractions that are in growing demand. Today, religious tourism occupies a worthy place in the Transcarpathian region. There are many religious buildings on the territory of Transcarpathia, which are distinguished by their historical-cultural and sacral-artistic appeal. Therefore, it is important to determine the role of sacred objects in developing religious tourism in the Transcarpathian region.Religious tourism is one of the oldest types of tourism. Its origins date back to the formation of major world religions. At the beginning of the XXI century, religious tourism became a priority area of tourism development, both in Ukraine and in the Transcarpathian region. In particular, its development largely depends on the sacred and tourist resources of the territory, their condition and practical use. Therefore, for the development of religious tourism, the territory must have sacred objects, the main advantage of which is the ability of tourists to visit them throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions and religion.
